Form is important, and so is getting in some solid distance to move you toward your goal of feeling more confident and stronger in the water each week. This class will help to hone your existing technique & form and add an endurance element. If you're planning a race or want to start swimming laps on your own and kickstart your training program, you will also find this program to be a great fit.
Each week we will create a different workout with drills for form and long distance swims to develop endurance. You'll spend time learning to pace, with the goal of maintaining consistent times over multiple intervals, even as you become fatigued. In addition, we will provide a workout for you to do on your own so you improve fitness and feel for the water in-between classes. At the end of this class you'll feel much more capable of long continuous swims without feeling like you need a rest. Persons considering participation in this class need not have taken Swim I but should be able to breathe easily while comfortably swimming 200 yards in the freestyle/crawl stroke.
When/Where: This class meets Wednesdays from 8:30-9:30pm at the Berkeley Carroll Athletic Facility at 762 President St from May 4th through July 13th. There will be no class June 1st.
