The shoe testers have spoken. Hands down they consider the New Balance 1080 v10 one of the best shoes of the year!
Read on to learn why.
New Balance didn’t rest on its laurels with one of its top-selling flagship shoes after 10 years. Instead, it broke the mold on the New Balance 1080 v10 and updated this premium high-mileage, neutral cruiser into a masterwork model that is lighter, has a better fit, feels more energetic and has a more striking appearance.
The 10th edition of the 1080 the epitome of cutting-edge, data-driven design, both for performance and aesthetics.
WHAT'S NEW: NEW BALANCE 1080 v.10
In a nutshell, the latest version of the New Balance 1080 has a more supportive fit, is much softer under foot and serves up a much bouncier ride.
The midsole of the New Balance 1080 v10 is made of Fresh Foam X, a new formulation that offers both exceptional cushioning and energy return. The other big change is the striking new Hypoknit upper, which has elastic qualities to provide a sock-like fit. Add to that some stylish patterning and the v10 is a successful visual upgrade.
A series of blown rubber outsole lug segments adds to a premium ride sensation, provides ample traction, allows for an easier flex and keeps the overall weight as low as possible. Adding to the lightened shoe, the eye-catching laser engraving on the sidewalls of the midsole removes more weight and provides enhanced flexibility.
The 1080v10 retains the plush step-in feel of previous editions, but it has a much more nestled-down fit and comfy fit. That’s partially because of the new engineered knit upper, but also because of the sculpted footbed and low-volume interior.
The ride is the perfect blend of silky-smooth softness and lively rebound and it carries a distinct energy into every mile of a long run. Overall, it’s a much lighter and much more energetic shoe than previous editions and it really stands out.
WHO'S IT BEST FOR?
The New Balance 1080 v10 is a dialed in style for any runner who logs mileage on roads, bike paths, sidewalks and other hard surfaces around town.
It offers loads of comfort and protection and makes a modern statement with its visual flair.
PROS AND CONS: NEW BALANCE 1080 v.10
Pros: New Balance 1080 v10
Not only does it look striking, but the performance-oriented Hypoknit upper has been engineered with a precise 3D fit so it hugs your feet with reliable snugness and provides strategic areas of stretch and support.
The 1080 v10 is more than a full ounce lighter than the previous edition. It allows this slimmed-down version to be much speedier and versatile for more up-tempo workouts.
Our wear-testers loved the fit and performance of this shoe. Hands-down, we consider it one of the best shoes of the year.
Cons: New Balance 1080 v10
