BROOKS SUMMER MELTS COLLECTION

BROOKS SUMMER MELTS COLLECTION
Summer running is all about heat, heat, heat and one of the exquisite joys of summer running is cooling down afterwards. Brooks has embraced the fun of summer with their 2019 Summer Melts collection – all served up in their signature Brooks Ghost 12 model. The 'Melts' collection is a sweet choice of styles inspired by favorite ice-creams and popsicles.
We asked JackRabbit runner Eric Hubbard to head down memory lane and relive his ice cream dreams with the summers he spent growing up in Michigan.
ERIC'S SUMMER ICE-CREAM DREAMS
Summer is the time for outdoors and cold treats and ever since I was a kid, I’ve enjoyed both non-stop.
Each of these special Ghost 12 Summer Melts Pack colors hit home in a way only sugary nostalgia can, culminating in an ice-cold refreshing memory of warm days, patios, green grass, sun-burn and cool lakes.
BROOKS SUMMER MELTS: COOKIES ‘N’ CREAM
Growing up in Michigan, the humid days out in the street and park running and playing with friends would require a constant bike ride to the nearby Dairy Queen or local Washtenaw Dairy to cool off and inhale the best sugar a kid could ask for. My flavor: Cookies ‘N’ Cream or anything with chocolate, the more the better I say.
After a long day of playing soccer, basketball, football, tennis, biking or just running around using our imagination more than we cared, the best remedy would be the quick bike ride for ice cream (unless our begging could get a mom to relent and drive us).
Whether it be Blizzard form with the upside-down magic trick or stacked high on a barely-seeable cone, Cookies ‘N’ Cream was my choice to freeze my brain and fill my belly.
BROOKS SUMMER MELTS: ROCKET POP
Other days, as the ice cream truck’s never ending/aging jingle could be heard as it made its way down our cul-de-sac, the Rocket Pop was a popular, refreshing, cooling, sweet sweet choice on a hot day. Cold and light, if you wanted a classic this was the best one yet, as the multitude of flavors kept us running along for at least another hour or 6. Speaking of which, sherbet was my choice for a smoothie or drink whenever I wanted to change it up during the summers. Cool enough to quench a thirst, yet fruity enough to feel healthy (right mom?)
I was always pleased when finding the gelatinous, harmonious sherbet flavor. This is a flavor that reminds me of summer sunsets on Lake Michigan, pairing well with the sun’s growing orange glow and a day full of sweet treats and sweet activities.
BROOKS SUMMER MELTS: VANILLA SPRINKLES
This final flavor that Brooks has layered on the Ghost 12, Vanilla Sprinkles, reminds me even more of Washtenaw Dairy, the local ice cream joint in Ann Arbor, Michigan, drenched in lactose and sugar and employed by local high schoolers happy to pile on scoops of ice cream.
Is vanilla with sprinkles boring? I say who cares, as the right amount (no amount is enough) of thick heavy vanilla ice cream dotted with sugary crunch is enough to make the bike ride there and back worth every pedal.
No matter the flavor or mileage, Brooks has brought tasty sweet childhood summer memories to the Ghost 12 with their Summer Melts Pack colors. Shop today and pair it with your favorite treat all summer long.
